Scam Phone Call
I have just been phoned by the "Accident Investigation Bureau" claiming to be a government agency that had been alerted to an accident at my phone number by the Accident Survey Department. They didn't have a name for the victim, which rang all my alarm bells. So after getting as much information as possible from them about who they were (not much). I said there had been no accident at our phone number in last 2 years and they hung up.

A little googling reveals this is a scam of some sort. Advice seems to be to alert the TPS (which we are on), but I don't honestly see the point. I mean, if they are scammers, they are hardly going to worried about a slap on the wrist from the TPS!

However, boosting the signal.

I had something very similar. Annoying, isn't it? And no way to stop it...

You can tell them extravagant lies and lead them into a confusing web of worrying fantasy. Or you can try to sell the teledrone things that don't exist... I enjoy doing this occasionally, when I have time.

Gah! Why can't people go out and earn their money legitimately like everyone else?
We're on the TPS but still get plenty of calls, some of them distinctly dubious (no, I am not going to give out details about my mortgage and financial stuff over the phone to some company I've never heard of, thankyouverymuch) . I've had two companies recently phoning up claiming to be phoning on behalf of a government scheme promoting loft insulation, but when I checked up on the first they'd told a pack of lies.

Thanks for spreading the message.

They now seem to call themselves the"NHS Investigation Dept" and claim the website www.doaclaim.co.uk which is one of these unpleasant "no win no fee" outfits. I kept them going for 16 minutes - hope they get charged per minute for phone calls! We are registered with the TPS so it clearly doesn't work with them..
