How Hard does a T. Rex bite?
The work reported here was done by a former PhD student of B's, but you'll notice B. gets to comment anyway. He was filmed by the BBC on Monday (to be broadcast we don't know when but presumably one of today's news programs) and interviewed by 5 Live last night (ditto). He's just emailed to say he's also going to be filmed by Newsround later today, presumably for their program this afternoon.

He seems to have got on someone's list as a useful dinosaur pundit...

Once you prove to the meeja that you scrub up well, don't dribble and don't mind being phoned at stupid o'clock, you're then on someone's pundit list for ever more.

I was surprised he was phoned by 5 live so late last night. They tried to get him earlier in the day but he was giving a talk in Bournemouth and 11.45pm was the absolute earliest he would get home. I wondered why they didn't just phone someone else instead of waiting around until near midnight for him, but I suppose if they felt there was a good chance he'd give them something useable then it was worth the late hour.

Mind you, I didn't much enjoy keeping myself awake until stupid-o-clock so I could answer the phone if he didn't make it back before they rang - as it was he had about 5 minutes to catch his breath when he got in.

Erk! That's a bloody mad day.

I think media people genuinely forgot after a while that most people don't keep the same hours as them. I've had to think twice in the past when it comes to phoning people after 10pm.

I'm not in B's league, obviously, but I've done bloody radio interviews at 6am!
