Ada Lovelace Exhibition
At the end of half term I visited my parents for the weekend, ostensibly to help out with admin. About half way through Saturday my mother very firmly drove me to the centre of Oxford and left me outside the Bodleian with instructions to amuse myself at the Ada Lovelace exhibition.

The Ada Lovelace exhibition was more a case than an exhibition. Still it had interesting stuff in it.

Bits of Babbage's Difference Engine

A page from Ada Lovelace's paper showing her algorithm for calculating Bernoulli Numbers.

Notes in the hand-writing of both Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage (no I don't know whose is which) relating to the Königsberg Bridge Problem

Daguerrotypes of Ada Lovelace by Antoine Claudet from the 1840s.

Thank you for the photos; and I trust you survived the weekend without loss of sanity.

It wasn't too bad, all things considered, though frustration is starting to mutate into concern.

I am pleased to hear about the first bit, but very sorry to hear about the second. *hugs*

So would I be right in thinking that you were treated like you were the child again rather than the adult offspring with that 'firmly'?

Well, I am exaggerating slightly. But I think she definitely wanted me out from under foot for a bit, though I suspect it was more an attempt to stop me asking what was next on the "to do" list than an attempt to keep me out of trouble.
